5G Technology - Overview and Development

5G means 5th Generation Mobile Network which is also called as Tactile Internet. 5G is the advanced technology to 3G and 4G Network Technologies.

In 2008, NASA with the coordination of Geoff Brown and Machine to Machine Intelligence Corp (M2Mi) developing 5G communication technology. By 2020 European Commission decided to invest 50 Million Euros to provide 5G mobile technology under the leadership of Neelie Kroes and many telecommunication companies under METIS (Mobile and Wireless Communications Enablers for the Twenty-twenty Information Society) 2020 Project is trying to reach worldwide mobile and wireless communications system. In November 2012 METIS started its activities towards developing 5G Technology.

In May 2013 Samsung said that it has developed the world’s first 5G technology system with a maximum transfer speed of 10 Gbps (Gigabits per second). It is under testing.

In October, 2013 NTT (Nippon Telegraph and Telephone) Company launched 5G Network in Japan which is the world’s first company to launch 5G in Japan.

In November, 2013 Chinese Telecom provider Huawei said that it will invest 600 Million Dollars in R&D for research of 5G technology in the next five years.

In May 2014 NTT Docomo started testing 5G technology with the coordination of Alcatel, Ericsson, Nokia, and Samsung, etc.

Many companies and network providers are looking for the latest upcoming 5G technology which provides the fastest internet service, wireless communication system, multiplayer gaming, better camera features, variation in bandwidth like less usage of bandwidth for applications etc,.

5G Technology may provide the fastest and better technology by using World Wide Wireless Web (WWWW). 5G provides 10,000 times speed better than the current network, 5G is 100 times faster than today’s LTE Networks, and data transfer rate up to 10 Gbps.

Overall the 5G Technology is expected to be available in 2020 and it may be available for consumers from 2022 or 2023 on-wards.
