WhatsApp launched Free Voice Calling Facility for its Android Users

Just after announcement of WhatsApp Web Version for Android Users, now it announced upcoming Free Voice calling feature for Android Users similar to other instant messages like Skype, Viber and Hike which offers free voice calls.



Free Voice calls supports for the WhatsApp new version 2.11.508 and available only for Android users. It appears in three tabs like Voice call list, Chats and Contacts. This call interface is very simple and looks like your contact directory. It provides the record of recent calls. You can see caller image and caller name when you receive a voice call from the caller.

On Friday screen shots of new voice calling feature are posted by Reddit user (pradnesh07). He said that the latest version is not available in Google Play Store and it can be downloaded from company’s website. You can download ‘apk’ file from WhatsApp site.

Reddit User noted that WhatsApp voice calling feature works on Google nexus 5 (Android 5.0.1 v Lollipop) Phone with latest WhatsApp Version. Users running the aforesaid combination of WhatsApp app version, Android OS Version and device make will not be able to activate the voice calling feature until they receive a call from someone else with the feature already has. Users can make a call with any one of the available contacts by tapping ‘New Call’ button. You can make call via Internet or Data packs but without call rates.


That calling features enables the call options like Speaker, Message, Mute and Disconnect buttons. But there is no official announcement about the voice calling feature till now. WhatsApp Voice calling features creates a tough competition with Skype and Hike.

In December, Hike announced to launch free voice calling facility for Android. It offers many features like sending Text Messages with personal and group chats, Stickers, Images, Videos, Voice messages, Contacts, Emotions, PDF Files, Audio Files, Text Files and Location sharing.
