Datawind Pocketsurfer Smartphones launched at price starting from Rs. 1,999 with 1 Year Free Internet Service via Reliance

Datawind, the leading Akash Tablets maker on Tuesday launched three budgeted smart phones at a price ranges from Rs. 1,999 to Rs. 5,499. These three smart phones offers free internet service under a contract with Reliance (RCom). The three smart phones PocketSurfer 2G4, PocketSurfer 3G4 and PocketSurfer 3G5 are priced at Rs. 1,999, Rs. 2,999 and Rs. 5,499 respectively.

Pocket Surfer 2G4 is a Dual SIM smart phone which is specified with 3.50 Inches Display and 960x480 Pixels Resolution along with 114.60x63.30x13 mm dimensions. It is spotted with 512 MB Internal Memory, 256 MB RAM, 32 GB Expandable SD Card Slot and VGA Rear Camera. It runs based on Android 4.0.3 Sandwich with 1.0 GHz Single Core Processor.


Pocket Surfer 3G4 is a Dual SIM smart phone with 4.0 Inches Display and 960x480 Pixels resolution. It runs based on Android 4.4.2 Kitkat with 1.0 GHz Single Core Processor. It is embedded with 256 MB RAM, 512 MB Built-in memory, 32 GB Expandable SD Card Slot, VGA front camera and 5 Mega Pixels Rear Camera.

Pocket Surfer 3G5  comes with Dual SIM support, 5.0 Inches Display and 854x480 Pixels Resolution. It runs based on Android 4.4.2 Kitkat OS with 1.0 GHz Processor Cortex A7. It is coupled with VGA Front Camera, 2 Mega Pixels Rear Camera with Flash, 512 MB RAM, 4 GB Internal MEmory and 32 GB Expandable SD Card Slot.

This One Year Free Internet browsing service dose not include Audio and Video Streaming and any downloads. For any downloads and video/audio streaming you need to purchase separate top up plans.

As per recent reports, Over 1.3 Crores of feature phones are purchased in India at a price around  Rs. 3000.

Datawind sells nearly 50,000 Ubislate Tablets in a month. Tuli said" We are Pledging to ship 90 percent of our manufacturings to India within 90 Days". And also said that, at present our company manufactures is products in China. Now the firm is in discussions with contract manufacturers in India which generates over 1,000 direct and indirect jobs within next one year.
